National School Psychology Week, which runs from Nov. 11 to Nov. 15, celebrates the contributions of school psychologists and the role they play in schools and communities. It is also an annual opportunity to recognize school psychologists' work to help children thrive in school, at home and in life.
Lisa Reed, intervention specialist at Hawthorne Elementary; Katherine Walters, a fourth-grade teacher at Minerva France Elementary and Jill Briscoe, an English Learner teacher at Minerva Park Middle School have been named Westerville Education Foundation’s September Teachers of the Month.
Starting Monday, schools throughout the district are rolling out various activities and events to build community and foster a sense of belonging in honor of Start with Hello Week.
Created by the Sandy Hook Promise organization, Start with Hello Week runs Sept. 16-20 and is focused on helping students build empathy, healthy relationships and social awareness through social-emotional lessons and activities.
From new flooring to updated technology, several elementary schools welcomed students this year with renovated and refreshed spaces all throughout their buildings. The renovation work was part of the first phase of the district’s Facilities Master Plan.
The newest members at several Westerville City Schools elementaries have spent the past week starting to build relationships in their school communities.
The Westerville City School District Board of Education on Monday, July 8, 2024, voted unanimously to request additional funding for facilities and operations by placing a combined levy and bond issue on the Nov. 5 ballot.
